Our Story
Its roots lie in the picturesque Old Town of Biel. It was there that the history of a Swiss family business began, a business that has stood for natural products, honest quality and responsible enjoyment for generations.
What began modestly developed over the years into a major player in the Swiss food industry, thanks to a constant passion for genuine enjoyment. Today, Lucas Grünig is leading Nectaflor into its third generation – with respect for the values of the past and a clear vision for the future.
Opening of a dairy farm
Year 1882
In the late 19th century, passionate entrepreneur Robert Grünig opened a small but very special dairy in the old city center of Biel, laying the foundations for today's company, Nectaflor Ltd.
His cheese specialties gained a far-reaching reputation and his product range also included milk and butter.
Out of love for honey
1930s
Robert Grünig put his heart and soul into cheesemaking, but that was not his only interest. He was fascinated by bees and loved honey, and also became a passionate beekeeper.
So it was no surprise that this precious liquid gold from his own beehives soon found its place in the dairy's product range. The foundations for our current tradition of producing honey were laid.
Founding - Narimpex Ltd.
Year 1958
This passion for honey continues to grow in the second generation of the family.
When it becomes clear that there is not enough space in the little dairy in the old city center of Biel, son Markus Grünig founds Narimpex Ltd. in Schwanengasse in Biel in 1958 – still today the company's sole site.
The former cheese cellars are converted into production areas for honey and, from this passion, a brand is created, step by step, which still today is a symbol of natural good taste and premium quality.
Diversification - Dried Fruit and Nuts
1970s
With the expansion of the company, the Grünig family's vision grows too.
Free production capacity during the summer months arouses their entrepreneurial spirit and creates new potential.
Alongside honey, high-quality dried fruit and nuts are now added to the range under the brand name Nectaflor.
Investment in the future
1987
Growing demand means that the dried fruit and nuts packing facilities need to be expanded. The site is extended and the company invests in an office building and a high-bay warehouse.
1993
Narimpex Ltd. has by now developed into a well-known company and become established as THE honey specialist in Switzerland. A larger, state-of-the-art facility for honey production is built.
2nd Generation - Narimpex Ltd.
1990s
The family's story and tradition grow further when sons Ulrich and Heinrich join the company (in 1993 and 1996 respectively).
Ulrich takes over as Head of Marketing and Export. From 2002 onwards, his father gives him overall responsibility for operations as CEO.
Heinrich runs Purchasing and Sales for Industry. Together with his brother, he shapes the success of the company as a member of the executive board.
Courage to expand
2000s
The increasing demand for Nectaflor honey leads to the opening up of new markets. Due to the high level of interest in the Middle East, a branch is opened in Dubai.
After gaining a great deal of valuable international experience, Nectaflor makes the decision to focus increasingly on its domestic market from the end of 2026. The export years remain an important chapter in the company's history – shaped by courage, entrepreneurial spirit, and the openness to go in new directions.
Tradition and Future
2020s
The story of Narimpex Ltd. is closely tied to the Grünig family.
To ensure that this remains the case in the future, Lucas Grünig, son of CEO Ulrich Grünig, joins the team in 2020. Taking on responsibility for Marketing, he starts to familiarize himself with the company's processes, secrets and specialties.
Narimpex becomes Nectaflor
Year 2026
The renaming of the company sends out a clear signal in regard to the company's strategic future. With their new one brand strategy, the established product brand becomes the overall corporate brand.
Strengths will be combined, a standardized brand presence is being created and resources can be used in a more targeted manner.
The name Nectaflor reflects the company's values more clearly – natural products, premium quality and a responsible approach to business.
