Our Responsibility
As a responsible family business, Nectaflor strives to integrate environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions into all business processes. We believe it is important to treat people and nature with respect.
We rely on resource-efficient production methods and source our products from ecologically sound origins. We also continuously work to minimize our ecological footprint and to further develop our processes in accordance with environmental protection requirements.
Clean energy – for greater climate protection
Biogas – since 2020, we have been able to cover 100% of our requirements for gas with biogas, and we further minimize our carbon footprint by offsetting our emissions of natural gas.
Hydropower – any electricity that we are not able to produce ourselves is sourced completely from Swiss hydropower plants. This strengthens the local economy and helps to protect the environment.
Solar power installation – since 2023, we have been using electricity from our own photovoltaic installation and cover around 30% of our energy needs in this way.
Packaging solutions in keeping with the times
We don't believe that our responsibility ends with the product. In our packaging too, we are constantly looking for ways to conserve resources and reduce our carbon footprint.
We are therefore continuously developing our packaging solutions and making use of materials and concepts that bring together quality, protection of the product and sustainability in the best possible way. Together with our long-standing partners, we are making step-by-step changes to make our packaging even more sustainable.
Reducing food waste – something we care deeply about
Food is valuable. That's why we have been actively campaigning to reduce food waste for some years now and why we use our resources as responsibly as possible.
We try to increase awareness among consumers of the difference between the best-before date and the use-by date. Many of our products therefore carry the message "Often good for longer". At the same time, we ensure careful production planning to avoid unnecessary excess quantities and we work with organizations such as "Tischlein Deck Dich" so that any surplus products are brought to places where they can be used.
Protect Habitats
Nectaflor is actively involved in forest and biodiversity conservation. With the forest conservation project Rimba Raya in Indonesia, we are protecting the habitat of the threatened Borneo orangutans and important carbon sinks – together with ClimatePartner and the local population.
In the Pacaya region of Brazil, we are helping to preserve valuable forests and biodiversity, as well as supporting sustainable options for local communities to earn an income and get an education. Together we help to protect the forests and biodiversity and the habitats of future generations.
